Program

Call for Abstracts

Abstract submissions are closed. Please email Ad Platt (ad@longleafalliance.org) for any questions regarding conference programming.
The Longleaf Alliance will host the 13th Biennial Longleaf Conference in Wilmington, North Carolina from October 20-23, 2020. The theme is Longleaf: The Resilient Landscape. The Conference will include keynote addresses, plenary sessions with contributed papers (oral presentations), field tour, contributed posters, and an award for the best student poster.

We invite you to submit abstracts for prospective contributed papers (presentations) and posters on topics of longleaf restoration, including pertinent topics of management, fire, ecological services, understory restoration, economics, conservation, education, or policy. Abstracts that are selected will be published in the Conference materials and session guide. We encourage submissions from the author’s most recent research and/or management experiences. The Longleaf Alliance allows more than one contributed paper, poster or student work in progress abstract per primary author.

PRESENTATION TYPES

Contributed Papers
Contributed Papers (as oral presentations) will be scheduled within Concurrent Sessions on October 21st and October 23rd. Each presentation will be 30 minutes, which includes 25 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for questions.

Contributed Posters
Contributed Posters will be displayed during the conference with a poster session social on the evening of Oct. 21st. Posters can be submitted in any category pertaining to longleaf; cultural and historic aspects are especially invited. We also encourage Student Research in Progress Posters, including undergraduate, M.S., and Ph.D. students. These abstracts can include research that is in progress, a proposed project (with a focus on study design); or results from completed undergraduate research projects. An award for best student poster will be presented during the Friday Morning Plenary Session on October 23rd.

Presenters will be expected to upload a pdf of their poster no later than Oct. 5th, and to bring a printed version of their poster to display at the conference. Although poster displays are meant to be self-guided, presenters are asked to engage with conference attendees during the poster session social.
